Subaru Unites Eastern Ingenuity with Western Styling
Subaru vehicles are manufactured by Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan. There are approximately 600 dealerships in the United States that sell Subaru cars, wagons, and SUVs.
Subaru is a Japanese word that means "unite.” It is also a term to identify a cluster of six stars, which the Greeks called the Pleiades. Subaru was born from the merger of five Japanese companies that became Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. in 1953. The corporation uses this cluster of stars as the official logo for its Subaru line of automobiles.
Subaru On and Off-Road Vehicles
Models include a range of vehicle types to choose from:
- The Subaru B9 Tribeca is considered a crossover sports utility vehicle that holds seven passengers.
- The Subaru Baja is a hybrid sports utility vehicle as well that has a boxer engine. It has off-road capabilities but also works great on the highways and surface streets.
- The Subaru Legacy is available as sedan and wagon versions each with symmetrical all-wheel drive.
- The Subaru Impreza is referred to by the company as “the ultimate driving machine” with options to purchase various powered sedans, wagons, and sports wagons.
- The Subaru Outback is a wagon with some styling that resembles a sports utility vehicle. It comes with a horizontally opposed boxer engine as well as heavy-duty raised suspension, which makes this Subaru work on the road and off the beaten track.
- The Subaru Forester is a sports utility features a boxer engine, great handling, and a spacious interior for seating and storage.
Subaru’s Future Endeavors
In 2006, Subaru introduced a new technology for its vehicles called Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-Drive). This feature allows the Subaru drive to choose the level of engine performance that they want, which maximizes performance, control and efficiency of the vehicle.
